Making A Difference With Access To The Arts

Founded in 2023 by Rachel Weitekamp, with a mission to bring the gap in the access to the arts, specifically dance. Miss Rachel has first hand knowledge in how the arts can make a meaningful positive impact in the lives of young people, not only in her own life but also her student’s.

After almost a decade of running Sunflower State Dance, she was on a mission to never have to turn away a family because they couldn’t afford tuition. After hours of searching for non-profits that provide scholarships to students for arts enrichment, she decided that if she couldn’t find the solution, that she needed to make a solution. Out of this dead end search and help from friends in the community rose Sunflower State Dance Alliance, a 501(c)3 organization with a mission to educate the youth through dance by promoting social emotional learning, physical skills training, discipline and creative expression.

After the creation of the non-profit the board made the decision Sunflower State Dance Alliance to acquire the Sunflower Sprouts mobile preschool program so that we could serve more preschool centers including those that work with at risk students.
